Participant-specific Registered Nurse assessment, care planning, worker training, competency assessment, delegation and ongoing clinical oversight supporting the safe delivery of High Intensity Daily Personal Activities and other complex disability-related health supports.
IHA assesses the participant and determines the appropriate level of Registered Nurse involvement required for safe delivery of their disability-related health supports.
The Registered Nurse assesses the participant's disability-related health needs, clinical risks, support environment, current care arrangements and relevant clinical documentation.
Existing clinical plans may be reviewed and participant-specific nursing care plans developed or updated where clinically required and within IHA's scope.
Where clinically appropriate, workers may receive training in the individual participant's support requirements, risks, escalation requirements and relevant clinical procedures.
The Registered Nurse assesses the worker's demonstrated ability to safely implement the required participant-specific support.
This is not a generic competency certificate or blanket authorisation. Assessment is participant-specific and based on the participant's support plan, clinical requirements, identified risks and support environment.
Where delegation is clinically appropriate, the Registered Nurse determines the required delegation and supervision arrangements. Not every clinical task can or should be delegated. The Registered Nurse determines whether delegation is clinically appropriate based on factors including:
Where required, IHA can provide ongoing RN review of the participant's needs, care arrangements, worker capability and clinical risks, particularly when circumstances or clinical needs change.
